Outdoor Rockers

When we got to Smoky Mountain and whilst we were driving through, I noticed lots of the houses in the area had lovely outdoor rockers. They all looked very comfortable and I was hoping that the Inn we were staying in would have many such rockers.

Recently we had gone on a trip to the Smoky Mountain region. I had never spent any time in this area of our country before. I fell in love with the charm of country living. The atmosphere is more relaxed and importance is placed on taking time for yourself and others.

We stayed at several Inns in the area. The most charming things at each Inn were the outdoor rockers that were on the porches and lawns. Several of the area restaurants also provided outdoor rockers for patrons to use.

As soon as we arrived in the area we were booked at a small Inn in the foothills. As we drove up the gravel driveway I noticed that there were groupings of outdoor rockers placed around the grounds. When we checked in at the Inn we were told that the grounds were available for us to walk on and relax in.

We had arrived very late in the afternoon. When the Inn keeper found out that we had not been in the area before she told us that she would make us a picnic dinner.

She told us to rest and unpack and we could pick up our dinner at 7:00 pm. When we went to pick up our dinner she had a large wicker basket waiting for us.

She gave us a little map which was very handy, for a walking trail that started behind the Inn and went through a grove of trees. My husband and I both thought this was unusual, but we followed her instructions. After a twenty minute walk we found a group of outdoor rockers facing the hills.

There were small tables next to the outdoor rockers. We opened the picnic basket and found southern fried chicken, warm flaky biscuits and two kinds of salads. She had included plates and silverware and glasses along with a bottle of wine.

We filled our plates and sat in the rockers to enjoy our wonderful meal. We both agreed that this was the most relaxed we had been in a very long time. There was nothing to worry about or stress over. We just sat and rocked, enjoyed the wonderful food and the view of the mountains.

As we were repacking the basket we realized why she had sent us to this spot. The sun began to set behind the mountains turning the sky several shades of pink, lavender and orange. The view was breath taking.

As we were going back to the Inn we were delighted to find that small solar lights were placed along the path to guide our way. When we arrived back at the Inn the owner told us that there was another set of outdoor rockers and tables in the opposite direction where we could go to watch the sun rise.

During all our relaxing time we had spent in the mountains we encountered the wonderful outdoor rockers to sit and relax on. Before we left for home I bought two of the outdoor rockers to be shipped to out home. We will be able to relax in our yard and recall our fantastic vacation.

I can’t wait to get home and decorate a spot in my backyard using my outdoor rockers that I had bought from my vacation. I am going to enjoy coming home to a very comfortable spot and relaxing after a hard day’s work.
