A year ago, one of my beagle puppies decided to walk away from house. . She had been in our home for six years and a roomy for our small west highland terrier (Muttley).

Her name was Scoobie and she was a great beagle puppy.Scoobie, acted like a mom to Muttley and they played and were good for each other, and they got in problems together, life was good all the way around.

I was so heartsick when Scoobie left and poor Muttley looked so baffled.A friend of mine started telling me about beagle dogs and I devoured all the information I could on the internet .It crossed my mind that maybe Muttley would like having another big dog to look after him. Then the discovery began, and it was a search, where do I get a dog in our area .

To me the most essential point was to be able to visit the breeder and ask him a few questions about the beagle spawn.I had everyone at work helping me try and locate a good breeder.

Barbara who is a great friend of mine checked out where she was living to see if she would have any better luck than me I am a city slicker and my mate Barbara lives in the countryside. Barbara is within a very short driving distance of Long Island and we were told from a dependable source that there were dog breeders there.

Within a few days Barbara told us she had handled to get in touch with a breeders and he would be only too happy to talk to us.April 23rd 2003 was the day that a litter of puppies come the world. We couldnt contain ourselves with the tension of visiting the breeders and picking up our new pup.

Well, what a day it was when I first visited a beagle dog , Oh My God, they were so cunning I wanted all of them.After 3 more visits to the breeders I had to make my choice as to which dog I wanted and it was not easy at all. My choice was made easier by the fact that one of the dogs obviously took a shine to me, he started to go for my laces on my shoes and was able to untie one of them.

In April our new arrival who we call Smurf became best friends with Muttley.

Smurf makes everyone I know so glad with his carefree smile and wicked sense of humour.Smurf is a fast mover when it comes to the ladies and by the looks of thing we are going to become grandparents again.
